Tribhuvan University (TU), established in 1959, is Nepal's first national higher education institution. The university's Central Administrative Office and Central Campus are located on the north-east facade of Kirtipur, an old and tiny town five kilometers from Kathmandu's city center. The institution has 154.77 hectares (3042-5-2 ropanis) of land in Kirtipur.
